1000 visitors!!
Hum already I´ve had my first 1000 visitors here. Right in time before the blog moves somewhere else.
The counter really does count visitors not actual hits - yet people with dynamic IPs will make a new user everyday, as I explained before. The hits are somewhere near 2000 already. Thanks everybody for visiting - and please keep stopping by!

allralph.de now available II
Just this morning I got my account data. I spontaneously added a page that forward visitors to this blog - I´ll start setting up the new blog there soon. Connecting to a ftp outside the university is a real pain in the ass, but I managed to do so.
If you´re excited to visit just click here: allralph.de
I can´t help but feeling a little like Louis XIV. - the center of the web is from now on my homepage :P

Placed some ads
Yeah let´s face it: I fell for capitalism and placed some ads on my blog. Hooked up with the almighty google ad sense. I Sold out, whatever.
No not really - I was just wondering why anyone has those ads on his website/blog and how much money you can make with it. Apparently you get money for each 1000 page hits and each click. I placed the ads not effectively, more somewhere one won´t bother at all. So go on and click if you want to. I don´t think it hurts anyone.

I am the Master of the "3 Kamerals"
Just half an hour ago a stranger called Patrick added me on ICQ. I first thought it was a fellow student of mine. Turned out it wasn´t - so I happened to get into a pretty weird conversation. They asked me if I was their master and the chosen one. I played along for funsies :) This is really weird stuff. Enjoy: Conversation :-)
I am sorry for Paris Hilton, I don´t really have anything for or against her, just couldn´t think of anyone else with a name to make a riddle of just like that.

allralph.de now available!
Thanks to Stefan for telling me! allralph.de is now available. I didn´t get any access information to site yet, but B One apparently claimed it and set it up for me already. Hopefully I can get going with it tomorrow. I am praying they don´t insist on sending me anything in paper. Paper sucks - I want it to be email only. Email will get me my account data immediately the ordinary mail will take at least a day. Plus it´s cheaper!
Rantings on reading
I´ve been quite busy with learning stuff - I have so much paper to deal with I think my eyes are going to die or something. There are so many papers to read, so much background stuff to learn to make even some progress in the projects I am working on I decided to cut down on reading so much learning/technical related stuff. I think it makes me dull and uncreative. That´s why I wandered over to my brothers room to pick up a more enjoyable read. I decided to go with some good old fashioned fantasy.
The book is called "Die Zwerge" and it´s, as the title promised, all about dwarfs. I think it has been published in the last couple of years - this means it´s rather contemporary and fantasy books that age are usually heavily influenced by anything that is older than themselves and especially the Lord of the Rings (movies) since those hyped out the whole fantasy genre in the last couple of years.
The book starts with a prologue that explains the authors situation - when it comes to fantasy literature and especially dwarfs there are many, many prejudices and clichees. For one thing you can´t just deny those because the book wouldn´t feel dwarfish enough to people who are fond of the whole matter but he also aims for something fresh.
Along with the fact that this book - O wonder - works without an old, lost and long forgotten prophecy about a brave heroe who will undergo inhumane sufferings and will do the noblest deeds to rescue all creatures it is a very, very engaging read! I picked it up somewhen last week - now I am more than halfway through the 600 pages and already I am excited to also read the sequel "Der Krieg der Zwerge" which is another 600 pages.
These joyous pages ahead of me - I can deal with the ordinary school "must-reads" way better.

I´ll be moving
Today I decided to buy me an own domain. It is going to be http://www.allralph.de/! It isn´t activated yet - but I already paid it, so I hope it to be available in a few days. As soon as I manage to set up my own blog there I´ll be migrating there. This probably means copy and paste action - I am not fond of any tools here. The software of choice is going to be Wordpress. As soon as anything is up and running there I´ll stop updating here. But this is a process which will take some time as I am not quite an expert on the whole WWW stuff.
To advertise a little more, I decided to host with B-One Webhosting, upon a recommendation I got from Stefan, the owner of http://www.deepcut.net/. (A site which is not in use currently). He´s got a lot of great ideas, don´t know why he´s wasting his webspace... Anyways, I chose their smallest package which is 1,25€ per month for 300 MB of webspace, no traffic limitations and all the features I could want.
Update: Reading through the Wordpress page I discovered a link to a tutorial to import blogs and blogger.com is among them - This is good news! Here´s the link! Wuah I am psyched to get this going :-)

The theme song of your life!
Find out what the UK or US #1 song was on your birthday. Or any other day of your life. This is pretty cool. My birthday (April, 7th 1984) songs are:
http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/member/birthdayno1.php
UK: Hello - Lionel RichieI don´t know either of those songs - I´ll have to check them out. This is a fun page - maybe it would be a nice birthday present for someone to make a CD or double CD (for the elderly :P) containing all the #1 songs from all their birthdays.
US: Footloose - Kenny Loggins

June 14th: The day of blogging
Just so that no one will miss it: June 14th is the official (even so I can´t tell who decided this to be official) web blogger´s day. Enjoy and celebrate personal internet journalism.
Update: To make this post more fun, a little bit of joke:

Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says "I've lost my electron." The other says "Are you sure?" The first replies "Yes, I'm positive."I think that´s a good one :-)
Review: Unleashed
Here´s yet another movie review - the latest Jet Li movie. I like martial arts movies a big deal, always have been and Jet Li always kept good movies coming (unlike Jackie Chan who just wore out by doing too much repetitive comedy). Now Jet Li sticked to action - which I like. Regarding "Unleashed" I was warned by friends who saw it in a sneak preview - this was to be the first Jet Li movie with a real (serious) story line. Sounded interesting so far.
Now about the so called "story line" - Jet Li plays an orphan who was raised as a dog by a real bad criminal. He gets treated like a dog all the time, barely enough food to live on, no one will speak to him like a real person, they even call him bitch. On the other hand he´s trained to be an ultimate killer/fighter. This is a little too contradictory for me. Then his "master" and the other guys in the gang are in a car accident and he thinks they´re all dead. He gets joins up with Morgan Freeman and his family, who he has met by chance as a dog before. This is a very long phase in the movie, they try to transform him back from a dog to a actual human being. This is rather boring to see... dunno the movie looses excitement and speed here. Morgan Freeman plays his part as an old blind pianist perfectly, still the script wouldn´t allow him to make this movie any better. Then it takes a long time until the villains find out he is alive and try to capture him - the action begins once again, until all the bad guys are defeated.
On the whole I enjoyed the movie, not to be misunderstood: I am all for movies with a good story - yet this one just didn´t have a good plot so the non-action parts were lame. But the action and martial arts was very enjoyable. By now there are so many martial arts movies that it is hard to come up with a fresh and cool choreography. "Unleashed" totally achieved here - it has gotten my "#2 of cool fighting style in a rather new movie" right after "Ong Bak".

Stats review: May
For obvious reasons, I decided to transfer my monthly stats review to the beginnings of the months, not to the "birthday" of the blog which is a 22nd.
So here are the stats from may:
A total of 570 users visited this blog, the actual pages hits have gone up to over a thousand: 1093. This makes an average of 27 users or 52 hits per day.
The stats were copied just now, on June 3rd. Since my last posting I have gotten some new countries on my list. Even a US Military guy came here :-) Most of the people are and probably will always be from .net because the main german ADSL vendor uses .net host addresses.

How to make a good burger
There´s nothing like having some good food when coming home from a hard day of studying. Plus the steak breakfast got me really nice reactions - both in the comments and real life - so I stick with the food theme.
Today, I had a nice hamburger! This is how I do it:

Today, I had a nice hamburger! This is how I do it:

- One needs a foundation to build on, this is where I like to use Texicana Salsa or something like that. Remember ketch-up is standard, boring and a definite no-no!
- Then a slice of salad - as all of the vegie stuff as fresh as possible!
- MEAT LAYER! Yammy... nothing to be explained here :-)
- Vegie area, this is the tricky one. But I say better more than less: Tomatoes, onions and some more salad are a must. Pickles and cucumbers are optional. The trick here is to glue all the little things that just lie there loosely together with alot of mustard. This adds the final delicious taste to a good burger.
